Procon Consulting, a fast-growing professional services firm in McLean, VA with expertise in construction management (CM), construction-related technology, space planning, and facilities management, seeks a Senior Construction Project Manager for a long-term opportunity in the Washington D.C area on various projects. The candidate will have responsibilities including but not limited to construction, design/build, architecture and engineering, space management, facilities management, real estate, and leasing of complex construction projects. This role requires 10 years of experience in construction management on projects for construction, mechanical systems, interior renovations, upgrades or new fit-outs. The ideal candidate will possess the following skills and requirements:

Qualifications & Skills

  • 10 years of experience in construction management on projects for construction, mechanical systems, interior renovations, upgrades or new fit-outs.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Architecture, or Construction/Project Management or related field, (education requirement can be waived for 20 years experience).
  • CCM (CMAA), PMP (Project Management Professional), Professional Engineer (PE), or Professional Architecture (AIA) certification.
  • Experience on occupied building renovations, Federal and MEP projects is preferred but not required.
  • Excellent communication skills with field and office personnel.
  • Corp of Engineers QCM Certification within 30 days of hire.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and Industry Project software packages to include but not limited to latest versions of Microsoft Project, Primavera, E-Builder, Procore, etc.
  • Experience with coordinating with architects and engineers to support their creation of design and construction documents.
  • Experience with reviewing design document submittals, reviewing cost and schedule estimates, collecting, preparing, and reporting programmatic information.
  • Fluent in project management principles and implementation of Project Management principles.
  • Ability to analyze all relevant project-related information and communicate project status and major issues in writing or verbally.
  • Ability to read and interpret drawings and specifications, interpret contract terms and conditions, working knowledge of CPM scheduling, communication skills, intermediate computer skills and Leadership skills.

Responsibilities & Duties

  • Serve as a technical specialist to the AOC’s COR/PM/CM for monitoring and evaluating the General Contractor’s (GC’s) efforts and assessing the technical progress in relation to an established schedule and resources allotted.
  • Review Plans, Specifications, and Cost Estimates for technical adequacy, constructability, value engineering, and to identify errors and omissions. The Contractor shall review and evaluate progress schedules and ensure conformance to the technical documents throughout the course of construction and commissioning.
  • Provide reports to the COR/PM/CM immediately upon finding work in noncompliance of applicable Codes and best practices.
  • Provide recommendations for necessary changes, resolve controversial problems, ensure compliance, and provide other assistance as necessary, or as required, to mitigate known deficiencies.
  • Assist with scheduling and conducting progress meetings, weekly, or as instructed by the COR/PM/CM with all concerned parties to review the Project, discuss unresolved issues, and create consensus on resolutions as necessary.
  • Prepare meeting agendas and take minutes of all meetings; the format and content must be acceptable to the COR/PM/CM. Minutes must include the meeting date and time; agenda; meeting location; list of participants with their affiliations, addresses, and telephone numbers; be fully descriptive of issues and decisions made; action items with names of responsible parties; and meeting materials, unless the materials are part of a formal submission.
  • Distribute complete copies of all minutes on the accepted medium within two (2) working days of the meeting.
  • Monitor the project proactively to identify or notify the COR/PM/CM of GC or government caused delays or any claim situation. Recommend solutions for recovery from such actions. Assist the government in claim avoidance.
  • Assist in handling disputed project issues. Provide input in preparation of the governments position and prepare related correspondence. Assist the COR/PM/CM and AOC Office of General Counsel in developing response(s) to claims and assist the COR/PM/CM in gathering data, documents, facts, and other information as necessary to develop a position in response to claims.
  • Process outgoing correspondence and materials to ensure completeness and correctness for format, spelling, and grammar in compliance with pertinent procedures and regulation for signature by the COR/PM/CM.
  • Prepare correspondence as necessary to respond to GC, other contractor(s) and stakeholders. Document all actions taken, and decisions made throughout the course of a project.
  • Maintain hard copies of the project records and files for task orders issued under this contract. All files shall further be stored and organized electronically on the AOC server.
  • Monitor all construction activities scheduled with emphasis on milestones, phasing/sequencing, Submittals, efficient and balanced workflow, major tests, and any unique requirements needing special scheduling or tracking.
