Gustavo Souto

Gustavo Souto has a diverse and extensive work experience in various roles and industries. Gustavo started their career as a Programmer at Caixa Econômica Federal, where they focused on service monitoring, database management, and statistical analysis. Gustavo then worked as a Programmer at ACOM Telecomunicações before joining the Federal University of Rio Grande do Norte as a Research Scholar, where they obtained their master's degree.

After completing their master's, Gustavo worked as a Substitute Professor at the Federal Institute of Education, Science, and Technology (IFRN), where they lectured and mentored undergraduate students in various courses related to software engineering, web development, and informatics. Gustavo also engaged students in discussions on interesting ideas for research projects.

Gustavo then joined the Fraunhofer-Gesellschaft as a Research Scholar, pursuing their Ph.D. Gustavo focused on research issues, data analysis, and data modeling, with the goal of developing a new method to detect anomalies in traffic data streams. During this time, they gained expertise in Java EE, R, Apache Hadoop, Apache Storm, Apache Cassandra, and various data modeling techniques.

Following their Ph.D., Gustavo worked as a Researcher at Roboeduc, where they coordinated department integration and found new solutions for educational robotics. Gustavo utilized Python, Gantt Project Manager, Java, Linux, and Arduino for their work.

Gustavo then transitioned into the role of a Data Scientist at Altran Consultoria em Tecnologia Brasil. Here, their responsibilities involved applying machine learning techniques to analyze customer behavior, predict churn, and deploy models using big data tools such as Apache Spark, Hadoop, and Impala. Gustavo used Python, Scala, PySpark, Cloudera CDH, Pandas, Numpy, Jupyter notebook, Hadoop, Impala/Hive, Oozie, and SQL for their work.

After leaving Altran, Gustavo worked as a Data Scientist at Ancud IT-Beratung GmbH, where they continued to apply their expertise in data analysis and machine learning.

Currently, Gustavo is employed as a Data Scientist at Proemion, where they apply their skills and knowledge in data science.

Gustavo Souto earned a Bachelor of Technology (B.Tech.) degree in Networking and Telecommunications from Estácio between 2007 and 2010. Gustavo then pursued a Master's degree in Computer Engineering from Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Norte from 2010 to 2012. In addition to their formal education, Gustavo obtained a certification in Big Data for Smart Cities from edX in July 2016.
