Luz Hermida

Project Manager, PMP, PhD. Biochemist at Profectus Biosciences

Luz Hermida has a long and varied work history, beginning in 1987 as a graduate student at Georgetown University, where they studied enzymology and wrote their thesis on protein ubiquitination of Fos and Jun transcription factors. Luz then went on to conduct postdoctoral research at the Roche Institute of Molecular Biology in 1994 and at the Lab of Biochemistry of the NHLBI at the NIH in 1989. From 2001 to 2008, they worked at Wyeth Research as a Principal Research Scientist and Senior Scientist, where they established and characterized analytical bio-reagents for two vaccine programs, prepared antigen affinity columns, and performed immunological assays. In 2015, they joined Profectus BioSciences, Inc. as a Project Manager, PMP, PhD. Biochemist and Principal Research Scientist and Project Manager. In 2020, they became the Dir Project Manager at Auro Vaccines LLC, and in 2021, they began their current role as Programme Manager at CEPI (Coalition for Epidemic Preparedness Innovations).

Luz Hermida received their Ph.D. in Chemistry, with distinction, from Georgetown University in 1994. Luz also holds a Bachelor's Degree in Chemistry from Georgetown University. Prior to that, they attended Universita degli Studi di Milano in Milan, Italy, for two years of undergraduate study in Chemistry.
