Shelly Markel, JD, MBA, ICD.D, currently serves as a Councillor appointed by the Lieutenant Governor of Ontario at Professional Engineers Ontario, overseeing the governing body of the association. As the founder of Markel Impact Consulting, Shelly collaborates with entrepreneurs and not-for-profit Boards to develop strategies and manage risks. Experience as a Professor and Coach at Seneca College encompasses teaching in Entrepreneurship, Law, and Business Ethics, alongside involvement with the HELIX Innovation and Entrepreneurship Incubator. Shelly also held the position of Director of Business Development at Caravel Law LLP, facilitating client access to diverse legal services. Prior roles include Executive Counsel at Travelers Canada, Corporate Counsel at Cognition LLP, and various positions in corporate development and legal affairs at Rogers Communications Inc. and Sprint Canada.
