Ccsfp Mark Gorrell

Mark Gorrell, CCSFP has a diverse range of work experience, spanning over four decades. Mark started their career as a Management Engineer at Medicus Systems Corp. in 1979. Later, they worked as the Director of Management Services at Geisinger Health System, where they directed the departments of management engineering and market planning.

In 1988, Gorrell transitioned into healthcare consulting as the Manager of Healthcare Consulting at Price Waterhouse. Mark then joined Allegheny Health System as the AVP of Applications in 1989. After that, they served as the Vice President & CIO at Santa Rosa Health Care Corp from 1991 to 1994.

Moving forward, Gorrell became the Associate Administrator for Information Services at Georgetown University Medical Center in 1994. Mark then became the Vice President and CIO at Baystate Health in 1997, where they were responsible for the strategic and tactical leadership of the Information Services Division.

In 2011, Gorrell took a break from their career to pursue their passion as a Sailing Vessel Captain on the S/V At Last, successfully completing a two-year sailing circumnavigation with their wife.

Upon their return, they worked as a Consultant until 2015 when they joined Professional Research Consultants, Inc. as the Chief Information Officer and Chief Information Security Officer. In 2018, they advanced to the position of Chief Information Security Officer and Privacy Officer, where they were responsible for all information security functions.

Throughout their career, Gorrell has demonstrated expertise in information technology leadership, security, and strategy.

Mark Gorrell, CCSFP has a background in both healthcare financial management and operations management. Mark attended the University of South Carolina where they studied healthcare financial management. Additionally, they received a Bachelor of Business Administration (B.B.A.) degree in operations management from the University of Texas. In 2017, Mark Gorrell obtained the certification of Certified HITRUST CSF Practitioner (CCSFP) from the HITRUST Alliance.
