Jason Carlton has a diverse work experience in various industries. Jason started their career as an Assistant Manager at Walgreens in 2006 before switching to Walmart as a Certified Pharmacy Technician from 2007 to 2010. Jason then pursued higher education at Stephen F. Austin State University, where they worked as a Graduate Student and later as a Graduate Assistant from 2010 to 2013. After completing their degree, Jason joined CAM Environmental Services as a Project Manager from 2013 to 2014, where they were responsible for writing technical reports, managing projects, and ensuring regulatory compliance. Jason then moved to Professional Service Industries, Inc. (PSI) as a Project Scientist I from 2014 to 2015, where they conducted air monitoring and project management activities. Jason later took on the role of Project Manager at PSI, where they prepared bids and proposals, conducted Phase I Environmental Site Assessments, and performed asbestos surveys.

Jason Carlton completed their Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) degree in Biology/Biological Sciences from Bethany College from 2001 to 2005. Jason then pursued a Master of Science (M.S.) degree in Environmental Science from Stephen F. Austin State University from 2010 to 2013. In addition to their academic qualifications, they have obtained various certifications including Asbestos Individual Consultant from the Texas Department of State Health Services in January 2021, Mold Assessment Consultant from the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation in October 2017, NIOSH 582 Equivalent - Phase Contrast Microscopy from CAM Environmental in September 2013, OSHA 40-hour HAZWOPER from ClickSafety in June 2013, Lead Risk Assessor from the Texas Department of State Health Services in May 2014, Asbestos Air Monitoring Technician from the Texas Department of State Health Services in April 2014, Asbestos Inspector from the Texas Department of State Health Services in February 2014, and Asbestos Project Manager from the Texas Department of State Health Services in December 2013.
