Tumer Akakin

Tumer Akakin has a diverse range of work experience. Tumer is currently working as the Department Manager for Construction Services at Professional Service Industries, Inc. (PSI) since June 2022. Before that, from June 2016 to June 2022, they worked as the Director of Technical Advocacy at Aggregate and Ready Mix of Minnesota. In this role, they were responsible for identifying and solving technical problems, building a library of technical information about materials, and reviewing Quality Assurance and Quality Control specifications.

Prior to that, from August 2011 to June 2016, Tumer served as the Executive Director at the Turkish Ready Mixed Concrete Association. Here, they held various positions, including being a Board Member and Certification Committee Member. Tumer also managed the Construction Materials Laboratory and was responsible for certification programs for concrete-related personnel. Additionally, they played a role in promoting concrete structures through seminars, presentations, and national communication programs.

Tumer also had a role as an Engineer at OTS Proje Müşavirlik İnşaat from January 2006 to January 2008. This engineering firm specialized in reinforced concrete structural design and strengthening historical structures.

Tumer Akakin's education history is as follows:

Tumer Akakin obtained a Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree in Civil Engineering from Boğaziçi University, completing this program from 1993 to 1998.

Continuing their education, Tumer enrolled at Boğaziçi University again and pursued a Masters of Science (M.Sc.) degree in Structural Engineering from 1998 to 2001.

Following their Master's degree, Tumer Akakin furthered their education at the same university and completed their Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Civil Engineering, specializing in Construction Materials from 2001 to 2008.

After completing their doctoral studies, Tumer Akakin pursued a Professional Engineer degree in Civil Engineering from the Minnesota Board of AELSLAGID. This program was undertaken from 2016 to 2022.
