Marko Pirc

Marko Pirc has a strong background in product management and technology, with experience in leading teams and managing partnerships. Marko is currently the Head of the Product Team at Profoto, where they are responsible for global product management and technology management. In this role, they oversee technical product management, system verification, and app design and development. Prior to this, Marko worked as a Product Manager at Profoto, focusing on software and connectivity. Marko was instrumental in building mobile/desktop apps and new imaging technologies to enhance mobile photography and improve workflow for professional photographers. During their tenure, they successfully launched Profoto Control apps for iOS and macOS computers and received the TIPA World Award for "Best lighting technology" for AirX.

Before joining Profoto, Marko co-founded Marsowci.net, a podcast show that explores various aspects of image making. Marko interviewed photographers, visual artists, filmmakers, privacy lawmakers, and photographic equipment manufacturers. Additionally, Marko co-founded LIT Vision, where they served as the Head of Product and created a concept for professional external flash for mobile phones. Although the project was successful on Kickstarter, Marko decided not to pursue it further due to market response. Marko sold the patents to a larger flash company.

Prior to their entrepreneurial ventures, Marko co-founded Lumulabs, a company that focused on developing light meters. As the Chief Product Officer, they set and executed the product strategy, and the Lumu Power light meter is now available for sale at Apple Stores. Marko also managed Lumu's public image, built its online community, and executed crowdfunding campaigns.

Marko's earlier experience includes working as the Head Developer at Retra Underwater Technology, where they designed innovative underwater photographic equipment, particularly the Retra LSD (Light Shaping Device), which remains a top-selling product in its category. Marko also served as a Student Researcher at the Institute Jožef Stefan and co-founded Savant.si, a company where they provided creative direction and engaged in commercial photography.

Marko Pirc obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in Physics from the University of Ljubljana, Faculty of Mathematics and Physics. Marko started their studies in 2008 and successfully completed them in 2012.
