Michael Mandel

Michael Mandel has a diverse work experience that spans over three decades. Michael is currently the Chief Economist and Vice President at the Progressive Policy Institute, where they oversee research and policy work on various global issues. In addition, they have been a Senior Fellow at the Mack Institute for Innovation Management at the Wharton School since 2010, where they contribute to knowledge about effective innovation management. Mandel is also the President of South Mountain Economics LLC, a company that tracks emerging occupations and industries worldwide. Previously, they founded Visible Economy LLC, a startup that combined news and education. Before that, they served as Chief Economist at BusinessWeek, where they helped shape the magazine's coverage of the economy. Mandel began their career as an Assistant Professor of Economics at NYU Stern School of Business.
