Georgia Petsiou

Georgia Petsiou has had a varied work experience. In 2022, they worked as a Research Technician at Prokarium. In 2021, they were a Project Intern at UCL Cancer Institute, where they worked on down-regulation of selected elongation and initiation factors, and mutations in the decoding sequence of RPS23 gene. Her techniques included bacterial transformation, cloning, Western blotting, Drosophila husbandry, crosses, lifespan, immunity and starvation assays, and dissections. From 2019-2021, they were at Brunel University London, where they were a Research Assistant and completed a Final Year Project/Dissertation on the translocation of WT1 in ovarian cancer cells after chemotherapy. Her techniques included cell culture of lung and ovarian cancer cell lines, drug treatment, 3D spheroids, pop experiments, immunocytochemistry, and analysis.

Georgia Petsiou obtained a Bachelor of Applied Science - BASc in Biomedical Sciences (Genetics) from Brunel University London in 2020. Georgia then went on to pursue a Master's degree in Human/Medical Genetics at Imperial College London, which they are expected to complete in 2021.
