Zachary Binder

Zachary Binder has extensive work experience in technical writing and knowledge engineering. Zachary started their career in 1996 as an Associate Technical Writer at Premier Solutions. Zachary then worked as a Technical Writer at SCT (now Ellucian) from 1997 to 2001. During this time, they gained experience in content development and user experience.

From 2001 to 2013, Zachary worked at SunGard Higher Education (now Ellucian), where they held various roles such as Senior Technical Writer, Advisory Technical Writer, and Principal Technical Writer. Zachary led teams, developed DITA-based documentation systems, and established authoring guidelines.

In 2013, they joined Ellucian as a Technical Writer, Senior. Zachary oversaw documentation projects, authored DITA content, and mentored new team members in structured authoring. Zachary also played a significant role in the content planning effort for the Banner XE software platform.

Zachary then moved to Ultimate Software in 2016, where they worked as a Content Management Specialist and later as a Content Management Specialist II. Zachary managed the migration of content to different CMS platforms, implemented taxonomy and metadata changes, and led training sessions on DITA and structured authoring.

In 2020, they joined UKG (Ultimate Kronos Group) as a Senior Knowledge Engineer. Zachary led projects related to selecting and implementing a new DITA CCMS and authoring tool. Zachary also served as a structured authoring evangelist and demonstrated the power of DITA to new teammates.

Currently, Zachary Binder is working at Proliant as the Director of Knowledge Engineering, starting in 2022.

Zachary Binder attended the University of Delaware from 1992 to 1996, where they pursued a Bachelor of Arts (BA) degree in Professional, Technical, Business, and Scientific Writing.
