Job description

We’re excited to launch a new state-of-the-art robotic homebuilding plant in partnership with several large homebuilders within the Greater Calgary Region. Powered by Promise Robotics' transformative production lines for timber-based panelized construction, the new plant enables our group of homebuilding partners to significantly increase the capacity and speed of home production within the fast-growing region of Calgary, AB. 

We are looking for a Production Manager to manage and optimize the production process in our new factory. The Production Manager will ensure manufacturing runs efficiently and in line with our quality standards. You will oversee the day to day operations of the production floor, mentor & manage production staff and work with other teams to ensure targets are met.  

What you will do:

  • Production Supervision: Oversee daily production activities, ensuring operations meet production goals, quality standards, and deadlines.
  • Staff Management: Supervise, mentor, and support production staff, including hiring, training, and performance evaluations.
  • Approve and report work time, including employees’ absences, vacation time and overtime.
  • Scheduling: Develop and maintain production schedules to meet demand and optimize resource allocation (labor, equipment, and materials).
  • Process Optimization: Identify areas for improvement in the production process and implement changes to enhance efficiency, reduce waste, and minimize downtime.
  • Quality Assurance: Ensure that all products meet the required quality standards and that production adheres to health and safety guidelines.
  • Troubleshooting: Quickly address any production issues or bottlenecks, resolving problems to keep production on track.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with other departments (e.g., supply chain, maintenance, and quality control) to ensure smooth workflow and meet customer expectations.
  • Reporting: Prepare regular reports on production performance, including output, efficiency, and any challenges encountered.
  • Other duties as assigned.

What you will need to succeed:

  • Bachelor’s degree in manufacturing, engineering, business, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in the manufacturing, framing components, modular or pre-fabricated construction in production management in a manufacturing environment.
  • Minimum of 3 years of proved experience in a leadership or supervisory role.
  • Proven ability to lead and manage teams in a fast-paced production setting.
  • Strong understanding of production processes, lean manufacturing principles, and quality control.
  • Proficiency in production planning and scheduling software.
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills.
  • Excellent communication and leadership abilities.
  • Familiarity with health and safety regulations.
