Munib’s engagement work spans the wholesale markets and banking businesses, retail banking, wealth management, and private banking. He has advised a range of international banks on compliance and conduct frameworks, regulations for preventing market abuse, swap-dealer regulations, benchmark reforms, the EU’s revised Markets in Financial Instruments Directive, governance arrangements, and the U.K.’s senior-managers regime.

Before joining Promontory, Munib served as head of compliance for Santander UK’s global banking, markets, and corporate businesses. As part of his role, he led the transformation of its compliance function and was heavily involved in critical regulatory projects covering market-abuse controls; Libor controls; conduct risk; the senior-managers regime; sales remediation; best execution; and compliance with the Dodd-Frank Act’s Title VII, the Volcker rule, MiFID II, and the European Market Infrastructure Regulation.

Prior to Santander, Munib held senior positions at PricewaterhouseCoopers and Ernst & Young, where he led and executed a number of s166 skilled-person reviews on topics such as governance, compliance controls, conduct-of-business standards, conflict management, market abuse, and risk frameworks. He previously worked at Barclays Wealth and the U.K.’s Financial Services Authority.
