Joan Xiao

Joan Xiao is a seasoned machine learning engineer with extensive experience in artificial intelligence and natural language processing. Currently serving as Principal ML Engineer at Prophecy since June 2025, Joan has previously held leadership roles such as Director of AI Engineering at Capacity and a dual role as Principal ML Engineer and Director of AI Engineering at Linc, where significant contributions were made to enhance conversational AI capabilities. Earlier career highlights include a position as Lead Machine Learning Scientist at Figure Eight, focusing on diverse NLP challenges, and Sr. Manager of Data Science at H5, leading teams in machine learning applications. Joan's foundational experience includes engineering management at HP and Palm Inc. Joan holds a PhD in Mathematics and an MS in Computer Science from the University of Pennsylvania, along with a BS in Mathematics from the University of Science and Technology of China.
