Sreekumar Thaithara Balan

Sreekumar Thaithara Balan has a diverse and impressive work experience. Sreekumar started their career as a Research Assistant at the Department of Physics and Astronomy at University College London in 2007. Sreekumar then joined University of Cambridge as a PhD Student in 2008, where they focused on developing statistical inference techniques for analyzing large data sets from space telescopes.

After completing their PhD, Sreekumar joined University College London again, this time as a Research Associate. Here, they worked on statistical data analysis of the Euclid project. In 2016, they co-founded Alpha-I and served as the CTO. During their tenure, they led a talented research and engineering team in developing a Bayesian Deep Learning platform for Time-Series forecasting, specifically for financial markets.

In 2018, Sreekumar joined Proportunity as the Head of Data Science, where they currently work. It is worth noting that Sreekumar also held the position of Research Team Lead at Proportunity from 2018 to 2022.

Sreekumar Thaithara Balan completed a Bachelor of Technology (B.Tech.) degree in Mechanical Engineering from the National Institute of Technology Calicut from 1998 to 2002. Sreekumar then pursued a Master of Science (MSc) in Physics at UCL from 2006 to 2007. Finally, they obtained a PhD in Astropysics from the University of Cambridge from 2008 to 2012.
