Sarahbeth Maney

Sarahbeth Maney is a distinguished photojournalist currently serving as the Diamonstein-Spielvogel Visual Fellow at ProPublica since September 2023. Prior experience includes a role as a Staff Photojournalist at the Detroit Free Press from July 2022 to October 2023 and a Photo Fellow at The New York Times' Washington bureau from June 2021 to June 2022, where responsibilities encompassed covering significant political events and producing unique photo narratives. Additionally, Sarahbeth has freelanced for prominent publications such as The New York Times and The Guardian from March 2018 to June 2021, specializing in breaking news and feature photography. Earlier experiences include a photography internship with the San Francisco Chronicle and visual internships with The Flint Journal and LightHouse for the Blind and Visually Impaired, alongside roles as a photography instructor. Sarahbeth holds a Bachelor's degree in Photojournalism with a Minor in Education from San Francisco State University, completed in 2019.
