Francesco de Chiara

Francesco De Chiara has held various positions in the field of scientific research and drug discovery. Francesco is currently working as a Program Director & Science Lead at ProQR Therapeutics, where they are responsible for driving innovation in RNA editing technologies and implementing innovative strategies within the company. Prior to this, they worked at the Institute for Bioengineering of Catalonia (IBEC) as a Senior Scientist & Project Lead, bridging the gap between research and development and marketing teams and coordinating projects to revolutionize drug discovery and development. Before IBEC, they served as an R&D Scientific Collaboration Manager at Institut d’Investigacions Biomèdiques August Pi i Sunyer (IDIBAPS), where they managed external scientific collaborations and ensured effective stakeholder coordination. Francesco has also worked as a Research Consultant & Data Scientist at Yaqrit Limited, specializing in investigating innovative treatment strategies and conducting data analysis for liver disease treatment options. Francesco'searlier experience includes working as a Postdoctoral Research Scientist at UCL, where they led a project on the treatment of Acute-on-Chronic liver failure, and as a Doctoral Student at Università degli Studi di Napoli Federico II, conducting genetic and epigenetic analysis related to tuberculosis infection.

Francesco De Chiara has a diverse education history. In 2020, they obtained a Master's degree in Big data & Business analytics from EAE Business School. In 2015, Francesco completed a short-course in Clinical Research Associate at the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine, U. of London. Prior to that, they earned a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Biological sciences from Università degli Studi di Napoli Federico II, which they pursued from 2011 to 2014. Francesco's earlier educational achievements include a Master's degree (M.Sc) in Resource Marine Biology, which they acquired from Università degli Studi di Napoli Federico II between 2007 and 2010. Lastly, they obtained a Bachelor's degree (BSc) in Biological Sciences in 2007, from the same institution. Alongside their academic pursuits, Francesco expanded their skills by obtaining a certification in "Writing in the Sciences" from Coursera in 2020.
