Vaughn Spurrier has a diverse work experience. In 2020, they began working as a Senior AI Scientist at Proscia. In 2019, they were a Computer Vision Intern, Python Developer, and Data Science Team Member at Tempus Labs, Inc. where they implemented, developed, trained and analyzed pytorch and keras models for segmentation of tissue and marker from whole slide images of both haematoxylin & eosin and immunohistochemistry stains. Vaughn also trained and compared performance of random forest models for pathology slide intake quality control with deep CNN models and standard computer vision thresholding-based techniques. In 2014, they were a Graduate Student at the University of Chicago where they studied the mouse visual cortical response to moving natural and synthetic patterns. In 2013, they were a Biomedical Research Student at the University of Maryland Baltimore County where they studied the structure of a protein that is a drug target for HIV in the feline model. In 2012, they were a Research Intern at The Ohio State University, Ohio Agricultural Research and Development Center where they developed a NIR spectroscopy based isoprene quantification model.
Vaughn Spurrier obtained a Bachelor of Science (BS) in Biophysics from Temple University between 2010 and 2014. Vaughn then continued their education at the University of Chicago, where they earned a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Biophysical Sciences in 2019. In June 2020, Spurrier obtained a certification in Python: Design Patterns from LinkedIn.
