Eric Southern has a diverse work experience spanning over several industries. Eric is currently working at Protenus as a Principal Data Engineer since February 2020. Prior to this, they held the position of Senior Data Engineer at Protenus from August 2017 to February 2020.
Before joining Protenus, Eric worked as a Commissioner at the London Transit Commission from December 2010 to December 2018. In this role, they collaborated with senior management to review and plan strategic initiatives for London transit, made fiscal, business, and social decisions for the organization, and played a key role in determining its overall direction as one of the voting commissioners.
Eric also co-owned Tamias Technologies Inc from October 2015 to December 2017. Previously, they worked as an HIS Analyst at Iatric Systems from August 2014 to August 2017, where they analyzed system requirements, designed systems, and developed software for different clinical systems.
Prior to their roles in the tech industry, Eric worked at the London Health Sciences Centre as a Software Analyst from June 2002 to January 2015. In this position, they analyzed system requirements, designed systems, and developed software for different clinical systems following an agile development life cycle.
Eric has academic experience as well. Eric served as a Research Assistant/Teaching Assistant at the University of Western Ontario from September 2010 to August 2012. Eric conducted research on security and integrity in medical wireless sensor networks, assisted in teaching software engineering courses, and attended Masters level courses on software engineering principles and related business requirements.
Eric Southern's education history begins in 2000 when they attended the University of Windsor and obtained a Bachelor of Computer Science degree, which they completed in 2002. Eric then transitioned to Western University, where they pursued a Bachelor of Software Engineering degree from 2004 to 2010. Following their undergraduate studies, Eric continued their education at Western University and completed a Master of Environmental Science degree in Software Engineering from 2010 to 2012.
