Julio E. Herrera

Julio E Herrera has extensive experience in assay development and operations, most recently serving as Senior Director of Operations & Assay Development at ProterixBio, Inc. from April 2016 to November 2023. Prior to this role, Herrera held positions as Director of Assay Development and Assay Development Consultant at the same company, emphasizing management of assay development teams and target selection. Previous experience includes leading molecular assay development at Cell Signaling Technology, overseeing protein expression, and focusing on recombinant protein production at R&D Systems, Inc. Academic involvement includes an assistant professorship at the University of Minnesota, concentrating on gene expression and carcinogenesis, and postdoctoral research at the NIH on chromatin-associated proteins. Herrera earned a Ph.D. in Biochemistry and Biophysics, an MS in Biochemistry, and a BS in Chemistry from the University of Mississippi and the University of South Florida, respectively.
