Andrew Shapiro

Andrew Shapiro has a diverse and extensive work experience in the aerospace and technology fields. Andrew is the co-founder and CTO of Proteus Space, Inc., where they defined the technical direction for the company's government small spacecraft market and developed proposals with industry partners. Prior to this, Shapiro worked as a consultant for AA Shapiro and Associates and SY Consulting, providing expertise in electronic and photonic materials and acting as an expert witness. Andrew also served as the Manager of Technology Formulation at NASA Jet Propulsion Laboratory, overseeing a portfolio of new spacecraft technologies. Shapiro held various roles at the California Institute of Technology, including Visiting Associate and Lecturer in Applied Physics and Materials Science. Andrew was an Associate Adjunct Professor at the University of California, Irvine, and co-principal investigator on several grants for engineering research. Earlier in their career, Shapiro worked at Hughes Aircraft Company as a Product Line Manager, where they improved yields and resolved critical problems in space qualified processes. Andrew also worked at Rockwell International, Autonetics Division, conducting research on solder joint integrity and surface mount technology.

Andrew Shapiro completed their education in a chronological order. Andrew first attended the University of California, Berkeley from 1977 to 1981, where they earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemical Engineering. Later, from 1988 to 1989, they pursued a Master of Science degree in Materials Science from UCLA. Finally, they attended UC Irvine from 1994 to 1998, earning a Ph.D. in Materials Science.
