Gabriel Gasque

Gabriel Gasque has a diverse work experience in various scientific roles. Gabriel is currently serving as the Head of Outreach at protocols.io, a position they began in March 2022. Prior to their current role, Gasque worked at the Public Library of Science (PLOS) as a Senior Editor and Team Manager for PLOS Biology from July 2020 to March 2022. Gabriel also held the position of Senior Editor at PLOS Biology from April 2017 to March 2022, where they contributed to the assessment and review process of research papers, developed journal policy, and fostered connections with the scientific community. Gasque's experience at PLOS Biology also includes serving as an Associate Editor from October 2013 to March 2017, where they were responsible for coordinating the peer-review process, commissioning content, and generating ideas to enhance the journal's value for the scientific community.

Prior to their tenure at PLOS Biology, Gasque was a Research Associate at Rockefeller University from April 2007 to March 2013. Gabriel'sresearch focused on understanding how the brain processes an organism's internal state to regulate behavior, particularly in relation to metabolic homeostasis and its implications for eating-related disorders and obesity. Prior to that, Gasque was a Postdoctoral Fellow at Columbia University Medical Center from October 2005 to March 2007, where they utilized classical genetics in Drosophila melanogaster to study synaptic morphology and function.

Additionally, Gasque has worked as a Freelance Editor at Cactus Communications in 2013, contributing their editing skills to various projects.

Gabriel Gasque completed their Bachelor of Science (BS) in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology from Universidad Autónoma del Estado de Morelos in the year 1999. Gabriel further pursued their education and obtained a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) degree in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology from the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM) between 1999 and 2005.
