Ron McIlwrick

Vice President Operations at Proton Technologies

Ron McIlwrick has held multiple senior positions in the energy industry. From 2022 to present, they have served as Vice President of Operations for Proton Technologies Canada. From 2017 to 2022, they were Vice President of Operations for Secure Energy Services Inc., where they led all aspects of field operations, sales, and safety for 53 oilfield waste handling facilities, saltwater disposal facilities, rail loading terminals, pipeline systems, and associated wells located across Western Canada and North Dakota. Ron also provided expertise to the Business Development team on selecting new opportunities for growth, enabling major acquisitions that complemented the core business unit. From 2011 to 2017, they held two Vice President roles at Murphy Oil Corp., directing field development and managing production operations, drilling/completions activities, facilities construction, surface and mineral land group, Montney subsurface development, and joint ventures. Ron also oversaw operations of 450 wells, 4 major facilities, and 85 km sales pipeline -Seal Lake heavy oil field). From 2008 to 2011, they were General Manager of Operations for Canadian Organizations, coordinating well and facility operations for Western Canada (British Columbia, Alberta, Saskatchewan) including 650 wells, 6 major facilities, associated pipeline operations, and a large team of field personnel. Ron also provided expertise in selecting properties with minimal growth potential and high development costs, and managed all abandonments and reclamation for the Canadian organization.

Ron McIlwrick has a diverse educational background. Ron obtained a Petroleum Engineering Technology degree from the Northern Alberta Institute of Technology (NAIT). Ron also has a Fourth Class Power Engineering degree from NAIT. In addition, they have a Business Essentials degree from the Haskayne School of Business Executive Education at the University of Calgary. Ron also holds a Professional Technologist (P.TECH. ENG) certification from ASET | The Association of Science and Engineering Technology Professionals of Alberta.
