ABOUT THE ROLE

The Donor Relations Manager plays a pivotal role in fostering and maintaining strong relationships with donors to ensure their continued engagement and support for the organization's mission. This position is charged with developing and implementing strategies for securing financial support from a portfolio of prospects including identifying, qualifying, cultivating, soliciting, and stewarding gifts using a donor-centric and moves-management approach to meet annual and long term fundraising goals. This role emphasizes personalized stewardship and long-term cultivation of donor relationships and requires a combination of relationship building, strategic thinking, and effective communication skills.The Donor Relations Manager will collaborate closely with various departments to strategize, execute, and evaluate donor engagement initiatives. 

WHAT YOU'LL DO

  • Cultivate meaningful connections with potential donors, fostering trust and engagement in alignment with organizational values.  Build relationships with donors and travel to meet with donors in-person as necessary.

  • Proactively manage and grow a robust portfolio of prospective and existing mid-level donors and major donors to solidify relationships and maximize giving potential.

  • Gather data on potential donors and various donor communities. Identify their interests, financial capacity, access, and giving history in determining how best to ask for support from these prospects.

  • Efficiently manage donor data, including contact information, donor meeting notes, and relevant details. Assign follow-up steps and ownership to yourself or other staff as necessary.

  • Own the development and implementation of major donors and planned giving engagement strategies. Work with development and internal teams to craft donor-facing materials as needed.

  • Work with the Director of Donor Development and others to coordinate engagement efforts to ensure a seamless and personalized donor experience. Efficiently schedule, prepare for, and facilitate donor meetings.

  • Execute targeted fundraising solicitations through persuasive conversations and the ability to contextualize P31’s programmatic achievements and organizational goals, focusing on securing gifts of $1,500 and above to drive organizational growth and impact.

  • Develop self-directed and tailored approaches to engage high-impact donors, utilizing major gifts and event-based methods as appropriate.

  • Express gratitude to donors through thoughtful and personalized communications, ensuring donors feel valued and appreciated for their gifts.

  • Remain flexible and open to new duties that may arise as the organization's needs are still evolving.

WHAT YOU'LL BRING

  • A commitment to the mission of Proverbs 31 Ministries with the ability to quickly grasp the organization's mission, values, and guiding philosophies and  communicate confidently.

  • Minimum of 3 years experience in fundraising and cultivating relationships for nonprofit organizations or campaigns.

  • Track record of experience using best practices in fundraising with a wide range of donors, from modest contributors (<$1,000) through to major donors (six figures).

  • Demonstrated ability to passionately advocate for the mission and communicate to diverse audiences, anticipate objections, and inspire donors through compelling storytelling and data-driven evidence.

  • Active listening skills.

  • Ability to write effectively for various formats, such as emails, proposals, fact sheets, presentations, etc.

  • Experience managing multiple projects simultaneously and thriving in a deadline-driven environment.

  • Ability to collect, synthesize, and process information quickly and with accuracy.

  • Strong customer service orientation with keen attention to the donor experience that centers donors as a critical part of mission-driven work.

  • Highly organized, with outstanding attention to detail.

  • Strong drive and initiative with demonstrated relationship building experience. A  high degree of professionalism and discretion.

  • A technology-savvy and data-driven approach with experience setting and tracking key performance metrics within a CRM system; Virtuous experience preferred.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

  • Working at a computer station and viewing a computer screen for extended periods of time.

  • Sitting or standing for prolonged periods, with opportunities for adjustments to ensure comfort and accessibility.

  • Operating a computer, including typing and using a mouse, as well as handling office supplies and documents.

  • Reading documents and observing project details.

  • Understanding verbal communication in person, over the phone, and in virtual meetings.

  • Occasionally lifting and carrying light objects such as laptops, documents, and presentation materials, typically weighing no more than 20 pounds.
