Matt Burriesci is the current Executive Director at Providence Athenaeum. Prior to their current position, Matt held various development positions at different organizations including the National Association of Chain Drug Stores (NACDS), NACDS Foundation, PEN Faulkner Foundation, and Association of Writers and Writing Programs.

Matt has over 20 years of experience in the development field and has been instrumental in securing funding for various programs and initiatives. Matt is a skilled fundraiser and has a proven track record of successfully developing relationships with donors and partners.

Under Matt’s leadership, Providence Athenaeum has seen significant growth in both membership and programming. Matt has successfully implemented new fundraising strategies that have resulted in increased support from both individuals and foundations. Thanks to Matt’s dedication and hard work, Providence Athenaeum is thriving and is able to provide its members with an ever-growing array of resources and programs.

Matt Burriesci has a MFA from George Mason University in Fiction, an Honors Seminar from the University of Oxford in Shakespeare, and a Bachelor's Degree from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign in English & Rhetoric.
