Providence Hall is a charter school located in Herriman UT. Central to the school's mission is teaching students to think critically, communicate effectively, and act responsibly. Students engage in classes that prepare them for college and career readiness through the AP scholars program, concurrent enrollment, and CTE.

Providence Hall Junior High School is seeking a passionate and dedicated after-school junior high coach to lead our dance team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for developing and enhancing student dance skills, fostering a positive team environment, and promoting a love for dance and school spirit. This is a stipend-based position. 

The after-school coaching will be on Mondays and Wednesdays after school is dismissed, with performances throughout the school year at various days/times that may include evenings, travel, and possible weekends and overnights.

Responsibilities:

  • Support the dance team program to ensure that it aligns with the goals and objectives of Providence Hall Junior High School.

  • Plan and facilitate regular team meetings and practices to support dancers and help them achieve their full potential.

  • Provide constructive feedback and guidance to athletes on their performances.

  • Foster a supportive and inclusive team environment where all athletes feel valued and encouraged to reach their full potential such that they develop physically, mentally, socially, and emotionally.

  • Uphold high standards of sportsmanship, ethics, and conduct among team members and follow school guidelines.

  • Work collaboratively, effectively, and positively with administration, employees, athletes, parents/guardians, and the community to promote the program and facilitate opportunities for athlete involvement and growth.

  • Manage the team materials for the purpose of making sure all items required for events are accounted for properly within due dates.

  • Adhere to all purchasing protocols and guidelines.

  • Attend and supervise students at assigned school-sponsored events, to include during travel, ensuring proper student behavior in accordance with school policies, rules, and guidelines.

  • Take all necessary and reasonable precautions for the purpose of protecting and safeguarding athletes, equipment, materials, and facilities.

  • Other responsibilities as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Degree or coursework in dance or a related field preferred.

  • Experience in choreography and creating dance routines preferred.

  • Familiarity with organizing and participating in dance competitions or performances preferred.

  • Previous successful coaching and/or teaching dance at the middle school or junior high level.

  • Proficiency in various dance styles, including but not limited to contemporary, jazz, hip-hop, and some basic cheer skills.

  • Ability to foster a positive team environment, promoting collaboration and unity among students.

  • Commitment to promoting the physical, emotional, and social development of students through dance.

  • Capacity to ensure the safety of students during dance practices and performances and provide appropriate supervision.

  • Substantial knowledge of the technical aspect, foundations, and safety concerns sport, with the desire to examine new theories and procedures pertinent to the sport.

  • Thorough understanding of and willingness to uphold the general sportsmanship and good conduct.

  • Capacity to perform all the responsibilities listed in this posting.

  • Must pass a comprehensive background check, including criminal history, and professional references as a condition of employment.

  • Lift up to 50 pounds, traverse school facility and assigned sport field/area, and lead athletes to safety in the event of an emergency.
