Matthew Barkan

Matthew Barkan is a member of Pryor Cashman’s Litigation, Intellectual Property, Media & Entertainment and Financial Technology groups.

He has handled a broad range of civil litigation, representing public media and real estate companies, financial institutions, energy companies and their officers and directors in complex commercial litigation in federal and state courts, in matters including breach of contract, securities and breach of fiduciary duty, among others. In addition, Matt has substantial experience litigating shareholder disputes, including in bet-the-company situations.

Matt also focuses on emerging cryptocurrency and blockchain legal matters. He regularly advises startups and digital currency exchanges with respect to initial coin offerings (“ICOs”) and other cryptocurrency issues.

Matt is a 2010 cum laude graduate of Georgetown University Law Center, where he was a member of the Georgetown Journal of International Law. Prior to law school, he held a variety of positions in political campaigns and interned on Capitol Hill.
