Lawrence Umar

Lawrence Umar has a diverse and extensive work experience in the oil and gas industry. Lawrence started their career at Shell Malaysia in 1991 as a Drilling Engineer and progressed to the position of Drilling Supervisor and Rig Superintendent. Lawrence worked there until 2000.

In 2000, Lawrence joined Lundin Petroleum as a Senior Drilling Engineer and Drilling Superintendent. Lawrence stayed with the company for a year before moving on to PETRONAS in 2001. At PETRONAS, they held various roles including Drilling Superintendent and Staff Well Construction Engineer. Lawrence'sresponsibilities at PETRONAS included managing drilling, workover and completion operations for Wells Malaysia, overseeing a significant number of rigs and wells of different types.

In 2018, Lawrence joined PTTEP as the Head of Drilling Operations. In this role, they lead the drilling team and is responsible for the overall drilling operations.

Lawrence Umar attended Marlborough Boys College in 1986, but did not obtain a degree or specify a field of study. From 1986 to 1990, Lawrence studied Civil Engineering at the University of Canterbury, earning a Bachelor's degree in that field.
