Valerie McCann Woodson

SVP, Human Resources at Public Health Institute

Valerie McCann Woodson, senior vice president of human resources, has responsibility for the Public Health Institute’s domestic and international HR operations. She leads PHI’s human resources and office services teams, which support the mission of the organization through their delivery of highly functioning systems for talent management acquisition, compensation, payroll, benefits, HR information, employee relations, performance management and professional development.

Valerie leads PHI’s ongoing work to provide exceptional benefits and programs that drive employee engagement upward and which have resulted in PHI being selected as a “Best Place to Work.” She recognizes that PHI’s employees truly are their best asset, and focuses on developing and implementing policy and services that are meaningful and valued by staff at all levels of the organization.

Valerie began her professional career at Procter and Gamble (P&G) in Research and Development. Her additional roles there included those of corporate technical recruiter and diversity trainer. Valerie was the P&G company representative for its Howard University Cluster, where she served as a member of the Executive Board. She holds a B.S. in Chemical Engineering from Howard University. She joined the Public Health Institute in 1996.
