Rose Atkinson, BSN, RN is a dedicated and experienced Community-Based Public Health Nurse, with a background in various clinical experiences including emergency departments, general medical settings, community health, and pediatric care. Rose has also served as a Pilot Resident in a New to Public Health Residency Program, where Rose gained essential skills and knowledge for public health practice. With a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the University of Wisconsin-Madison, Rose is committed to promoting health, preventing disease, and addressing social determinants of health to improve overall wellbeing in communities experiencing health inequities.

Public Health Madison and Dane County’s (PHMDC) vision is “Healthy People. Healthy Places.” and its mission is to “Work with the community to enhance, protect, and promote the health of the environment and the well being of all people.” PHMDC fulfills its mission through its work on environmental health, community health, operations, health equity, and policy. PHMDC is increasing its focus on working with the community to address the root causes of disease and illness by focusing on policy, systems, and environmental changes.
