Jen Newcomb is an experienced safety and health professional with a diverse background in emergency response, safety coordination, and health compliance. Currently serving as a Vaccine Response Specialist at Public Health Madison and Dane County since February 2021, Jen has previously held roles including Firefighter/EMT at Madison Fire Department and ER Technician at SSM Health St. Mary’s Hospital. Notable positions also include Safety Coordinator for the City of Madison, Corporate Safety Specialist at Alliant Energy, and Health and Safety Coordinator at Sanimax - Biodiesel, where responsibilities encompassed incident investigations, safety training, and regulatory compliance. Jen's career began as an Environmental Health and Safety Engineer at Meridian Automotive Systems and an intern at Madison Area Technical College. Public Health Madison and Dane County’s (PHMDC) vision is “Healthy People. Healthy Places.” and its mission is to “Work with the community to enhance, protect, and promote the health of the environment and the well being of all people.” PHMDC fulfills its mission through its work on environmental health, community health, operations, health equity, and policy. PHMDC is increasing its focus on working with the community to address the root causes of disease and illness by focusing on policy, systems, and environmental changes.
