Martha Laugen is an accomplished professional with extensive experience in public health, fitness, and community engagement. As the owner of Catalyst Rowing Fitness since January 2018, Martha has focused on providing rowing-based fitness training. Concurrently, as a Public Health Specialist at Public Health Madison and Dane County, Martha has played a crucial role in the community's COVID response, contributing to engagement, workforce development, and health equity initiatives. Previous roles include Membership Director at Wisconsin Bike Fed, Program Manager for Madison BCycle BikeShare, and various positions in coaching, personal training, and public health management. Public Health Madison and Dane County’s (PHMDC) vision is “Healthy People. Healthy Places.” and its mission is to “Work with the community to enhance, protect, and promote the health of the environment and the well being of all people.” PHMDC fulfills its mission through its work on environmental health, community health, operations, health equity, and policy. PHMDC is increasing its focus on working with the community to address the root causes of disease and illness by focusing on policy, systems, and environmental changes.
