Heather Harris

Heather Harris serves as a Research Fellow at the Public Policy Institute of California since August 2018, bringing extensive research experience from previous roles, including Postdoctoral Researcher at UC Berkeley and Graduate Research Assistant at the University of Maryland. Harris investigated the effects of school choice on youth violence during a tenure as a Summer Associate at the RAND Corporation and contributed to research at the National Bureau of Economic Research and The University of Chicago. Additional experience includes a policy advisory role with the Jordanian government and technical positions at the Broad Institute of MIT and Harvard, as well as the Harvard-Smithsonian Center for Astrophysics. Harris holds a PhD in Criminology and Criminal Justice from the University of Maryland, an M.P.P. from the University of Chicago, and a B.S. in Astronomy from the University of Massachusetts Amherst.
