Whether he’s tending his tomatoes, baking sourdough bread, or hitting the bike and ski trails, Joel’s passions involve interacting with and learning from the natural and human world. This fascination with the world around him has helped him uniquely understand new information and systems, tell stories with data, understand people’s motivations, and guide organizations seeking to confront existential issues like climate, equity, and sustainability.
As a director at PSC, Joel brings this love of the natural world to work, helping clients advance their efforts in sustainability and climate. His days are filled helping organizations develop and implement strategic climate and sustainability plans, energy efficiency and electrification strategies, and integration of equity into policy and programs to help communities make progress on these issues.
Before joining PSC, Joel spent more than a decade in private, public, and nonprofit energy and environment organizations, leading the City of Detroit’s first Office of Sustainability and developing the Sustainability Action Agenda, in addition to helping over 40 local governments address climate, energy, and sustainability issues at the Southeast Michigan Regional Energy Office.
