Poorani Ramachandran, P.E. is an experienced engineering professional currently serving as the Director of the Office of Technical and Regulatory Analysis at the Public Service Commission of the District of Columbia since July 2017, previously holding roles as Chief of the Office of Infrastructure and System Planning and Senior Electrical Engineer. Prior to this, Poorani contributed to Schneider Electric as a Senior Power System Engineer and Regional Power Systems Engineer, as well as working at Eaton Corporation as a Power System Engineer, focusing on power system studies, project management, and NEC compliance. The Public Service Commission of the District of Columbia was originally established by Congress in 1913 and was reaffirmed by Congress as an independent agency of the District of Columbia Government in the District of Columbia Home Rule Charter in 1973. The DCPSC functions as an independent, quasi-judicial agency in the District of Columbia Government. The mission of the PSC is to serve the public interest by ensuring that financially healthy electric, natural gas, and telecommunications companies provide safe, reliable, and quality services at reasonable rates for District of Columbia residential, business, and government customers.
