Claire Summers-Jones

Assistant Technical Director at The Public Theater

Claire Summers-Jones is the current Assistant Technical Director at The Public Theater. Claire has been with the organization since June 2016 and in their current role for just over a year. Prior to that, they were the Technical Supervisor at The New School and before that, they worked as part of the props run crew for Blue Man Group.

Claire is extremely organized and good at juggling multiple tasks at once. Claire is also a great communicator and problem solver. These skills have served their well in their career thus far and have helped their to excel in their current role.

As Assistant Technical Director, Claire is responsible for budgeting, sourcing, engineering, building, installing, and overseeing technical rehearsals for all scenic elements in a production. This includes everything from meeting with the design and directing teams to clarify concept and key elements, to budgeting and sourcing elements and materials, as well as generating technical blueprints for the shop floor and supervising the construction of the elements. It is a big job that requires their to be extremely organized, able to juggle many tasks at once, have excellent communication and scheduling skills, in addition to constant creative problem solving. Claire works with one of the best teams in the business and they are constantly evolving to meet every challenge thrown their way.

Claire Summers-Jones pursued a Bachelor of Fine Arts at Wright State University in the field of Theater Design/ Technology.
