Rain Yates is an experienced environmental professional with a strong background in air compliance and conservation. Currently serving as Inspector II at Puget Sound Clean Air Agency since December 2021, Rain Yates previously held multiple roles at the Florida Department of Environmental Protection from February 2016 to December 2021, including Environmental Consultant and Environmental Specialist I-III. A brief tenure as a Trail Crew Member with AmeriCorps involved conservation work in Maine, while earlier experience included serving as Safety Officer at Zoom Air and Labor Market Researcher at Brandt Information Services. Rain Yates holds a Master’s degree in Forest Resources and Conservation with a focus on Ecological Restoration, as well as a Graduate Certificate in Natural Resource Policy and Administration from the University of Florida, and a Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science and Policy from Florida State University.

The Agency’s vision is healthy air, climate, and environmental justice for the benefit of all people in the Puget Sound region. The Puget Sound Clean Air Agency is a regional government agency created in 1967. Our jurisdiction covers King, Kitsap, Pierce, and Snohomish counties. We achieve our mission by monitoring air quality, sponsoring voluntary initiatives, educating people and businesses about air quality issues, and enforcing state and federal air quality laws.
