Mohamed Sufyan Islim has been working in the field of optical wireless communication systems since 2014. Mohamed Sufyan began their career as a Lab Demonstrator at the University of Edinburgh, and then became a Visiting Scholar at the University of Strathclyde in 2018, where they focused on experimental optical wireless communications systems using micro-LEDs. In 2019, they were a Post-doctoral Research Associate at the LiFi Research and Development Centre at the University of Edinburgh, where they worked on theoretical and experimental optical wireless communication systems and co-developed two CES demos in collaboration with a world leading industrial partner. In 2020, they became a Research Associate at the University of Strathclyde, where they focused on the implementation of optical wireless communication systems using micro-LEDs and novel laser diodes and was also working on writing a book focused on mobile optical wireless communication systems. Currently, they are the Research and Development Manager at pureLiFi Ltd.
Mohamed Sufyan Islim holds a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Digital Communications from The University of Edinburgh, which they obtained in 2019. Mohamed Sufyan previously obtained a Master of Science (MSc), Distinction in Signal Processing and Communications from The University of Edinburgh in 2014. In 2021, they obtained an APM Project Fundamentals Qualification (PFQ) from the Association for Project Management. In 2018, they obtained a Basic Course in Occupational Ultraviolet Radiation Safety from The University of Edinburgh. In 2016, they obtained an Attendance Certificate of a LASER Safety Course from The University of Edinburgh. In 2011, they obtained a Participation Certificate in IEEE Student Branches Congress at Texas A&M Univ., Qatar from IEEE. In 2010, they obtained a Participation Certificate in IEEE Student Branches Congress at KU-Leuven Univ., Belgium from IEEE.
