Matthew Deal is a seasoned professional with extensive experience in utility policy and clean energy initiatives. Currently serving as Senior Manager of Utility Policy at ChargePoint since March 2020, Matthew leads regulatory activities across North America, advocating for policies that enhance EV infrastructure. Previously, Matthew held the role of Clean Energy Program Manager at Sierra Club, overseeing campaign strategies for clean energy objectives in North Carolina. Matthew's background includes strategic environmental initiatives at Exelon, where roles included Senior Manager and Manager of Policy Analysis, while earlier positions at the California Public Utilities Commission encompassed leadership in the Policy & Planning Division and advisory functions to the Commission President. Matthew's career began at the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission as an Energy Analyst, providing consultation on energy policy. Matthew holds a Master’s and a Bachelor’s degree in Economics from Illinois State University.
