Alan Farquharson

Alan Farquharson has a diverse work experience spanning multiple companies and roles. Alan worked at Purple from December 2016 to January 2023, starting as a Senior PHP Developer/Devops/SRE Team Lead and progressing to Head of Site Reliability / DevOps Lead and ultimately Vice President of Site Reliability. Purple specializes in transforming physical venues into intelligent spaces and has a global user base of over 140 million across various brands. Before Purple, Alan worked at Magma Digital Ltd as a Senior Software Engineer from May 2014 to December 2016 and as a Software Engineer from December 2012 to May 2014. Alan also worked at Be Usergroup as a Team Member from July 2008 to December 2014, and at Chameleon Interactive as a Web Developer from July 2010 to December 2011.

Alan Farquharson completed their Bachelor's degree in Computing from Manchester Metropolitan University from 2008 to 2012. Prior to that, they attended Ashton Sixth Form from 2006 to 2007, where they obtained a BTEC in ICT Practitioners. Alan's earlier education was at West Hill from 2001 to 2006, but no degree or field of study is specified. In addition to their formal education, Alan obtained additional certifications, including an Associate Cloud Engineer certification from Google Cloud in December 2023 and a Zend Certified Engineer certification from Zend Technologies in 2013.
