Walter Mathews

Walter Mathews is an experienced American Sign Language Interpreter currently employed by the City of Chicago MOPD since May 2023. With a career spanning over three decades, Walter has served as a Certified Sign Language Interpreter at Kuumba Ministries, Inc. since May 2010, and as a VRS Interpreter at Purple Communications, Inc. from 2006 to the present. Previous experience includes a role as a Sign Language Interpreter for The Clerk of the Circuit Court of Cook County from 1999 to 2011 and various positions including Interpreter, Assistant Manager, and Manager at Anixter Center from June 1991 to December 2000. Walter Mathews holds certificates in Legal Interpreting and Mentorship Training from the University of Northern Colorado Project Climb, completed in December 2021.
