Akua Tay has a diverse range of work experience spanning from 2004 to present. Currently, they are the Founder of Connected To Culture, Inc. which they started in 2020. Prior to this, they worked at PushBlack as a Digital Content Manager starting in 2018. From 2017 to 2023, Akua was a Public Information Officer (Digital Strategy) at DC Government, where they co-managed communication strategies and oversaw advertising and marketing. Before that, from 2015 to 2023, they worked as a Cyber Security Analyst/IT Auditor at DelTaahTech Consulting LLC. In 2018, they were the Marketing Lead for DC Proud 2019. In 2016, Akua worked at AARP as a Digital Product Consultant, and from 2014 to 2016, they were the Manager of Media Planning and Scheduling at NBC Universal. From 2007 to 2014, Akua held the role of Head of Programming at Tempo Networks. Lastly, they worked at Viacom as a Media Planner from 2006 to 2007, and at HBO as a Freelance Production Assistant from 2004 to 2005.

Akua Tay attended Montgomery Blair High School but no specific dates are provided for this education. Later, they went on to study at the University of Maryland from 2000 to 2004, earning a Bachelor's degree in Broadcast Journalism. Akua also holds several certifications from Hootsuite, including the Hootsuite Advanced Social Advertising Certification obtained in March 2018, the Hootsuite Social Marketing Certification obtained in February 2018, and the Hootsuite Platform Certification obtained in December 2017.
