David Strydom

David Strydom has a long history with PwC South Africa, starting in 1997 as a System Administrator. David later worked as an IBM Domino Developer from 2000 to 2003. From 2004 to 2014, they held the role of Business Relationship Manager and then transitioned to Development Manager until 2008. In 2015, they took on the position of Director - IT Service Delivery Lead, overseeing the IT business relationship management and business analysis functions for PwC Africa until 2019. Simultaneously, they served as Head of Software Engineering - Africa from 2019 to 2021, leading internal delivery streams for application development and data analytics. In 2021, they became the Head of Data Engineering - Africa before assuming their current role as the Chief Data Officer in 2022. In their current position, they are responsible for the formulation, evolution, and execution of the PwC Africa internal data strategy, including data governance, data quality, data architecture, and the operational management of the Africa Chief Data Office.

David Strydom completed their education at the following institutions:

- Stirling High School, where they obtained their high school diploma from 1988 to 1991.

- University of Port Elizabeth, where they pursued a B.Comm in Informatics in 1992.

- Port Elizabeth Technikon, where they earned a B.Tech in Information Technology (Cum Laude) from 1993 to 1996.

In addition to their academic qualifications, David Strydom obtained several certifications throughout their career, including Professional Scrum Master I, Professional Scrum Master™ I (PSM I), AgilePM® Practitioner, Business Relationship Management Professional, ITIL Foundations, Prince 2 Foundations, and IBM Certified Advanced Application Developer Lotus Notes R4 - R7. These certifications were obtained from various institutions such as Scrum.org and APMG International, with the latest certification obtained in 2020.
