Pyro-Comm Systems was founded in Huntington Beach, CA in 1980 by Michael Donahue and quickly became one of the premier fire alarm companies in Southern California. The company’s focus was providing quality installations and service to contractors, end-users, and property managers. Many of the employees have more than 20 years of service with Pyro-Comm Systems. In 1996, Pyro-Comm Systems opened their second office in Carlsbad, CA to support clients throughout the greater San Diego area. In 2010, Pyro-Comm Systems opened a third office in the San Francisco Bay area in order to support clients throughout Northern California.

Today, Pyro-Comm Systems has ample staff throughout three offices and has annual revenues in excess of 20
million dollars from installations/ services over the past 5 years.

Pyro-Comm Systems has been involved in the design, engineering, and installation phases of Fire/Life Safety,
Healthcare Communications, Security Intrusion, Voice & Data, CCTV and Access Control Systems on thousands of projects with Owners, Engineers, Developers and General Contractors. From design, engineering and code consulting, Pyro-Comm Systems provides “value added” services to Professional Engineers & Architects, Developers, Contractors, and End Users.

Summary Description:

The Human Resources (HR) Generalist will undertake a variety of Human Resources duties and will be responsible for facilitating daily HR functions such as updating HRIS and related systems and supporting the day-to-day functions of the department. This role, also, involves performing tasks with a focus to grow our company’s talent pipeline and improve our onboarding process. The HR Generalist will have a broad knowledge of Human Resources responsibilities working autonomously and efficiently to ensure the end-to-end running of HR projects and operations.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure complete and accurate employee information and records using an HRIS and other HR related systems

  • Administer compensation and benefit plans

  • Lead talent acquisition and recruitment processes

  • Conduct employee onboarding and administer safety training & development initiatives

  • Provide support to employees in various HR-related topics such as leaves, compensation and resolve any issues that may arise

  • Promote HR programs to create an efficient and conflict-free workplace

  • Assist in development and implementation of human resource policies

  • Gather and analyze data with useful HR metrics, like time to hire and employee turnover rates

  • Identify and implement process improvement opportunities

  • Organize and support with employee performance reviews

  • Ensure compliance with laws and regulations relating to employment standards, human rights, privacy legislation and employment equity

  • Complete quarterly and annual compliance-based reporting, such as ACA, EEO-1 etc.

  • Facilitate the administrative aspects of fleet/vehicles, insurance and related vehicle policies and procedures

Requirements and skills

  • Proven experience as an HR Generalist

  • Understanding of general human resources policies and procedures

  • Good knowledge of California State and local employment/labor laws

  • Excellent communication and people skills

  • Aptitude in problem-solving

  • High level of confidentiality and diplomacy

  • BS/BA in Business administration or relevant work experience

  • Additional HR training will be a plus
