Richard Kirby has a diverse work experience spanning over two decades. Richard started their career as a Student at CNATT in 1997 before becoming an Instructor at NAMTRAGRUDET Oceana in 1998. Richard then served as a Branch Chief on USS Enterprise from 2001 to 2004. After that, they worked as an Instructional Systems Development Rep at CNATTU Oceana from 2004 to 2007. Richard then served on USS George Washington as a Division LCPO from 2007 to 2010. Following that, they were a Maintenance LCPO at VAW-124 from 2010 to 2013. Richard then transitioned to a Production LCPO role in the US Navy from 2013 to 2016. Richard then served as a Maintenance Master Chief on USS Bataan from 2016 to 2019. From 2019 to 2022, they worked as the Department LCPO in the US Navy. Currently, Richard serves as the Project Manager and Deputy Director of Production and Workforce Development at Q.E.D. Systems Inc.

Richard Kirby earned an Associate's Degree in Instrumentation Technology/Technician from Excelsior University, where they studied from 2014 to 2016.
