Maura McGuinness has extensive experience in the lighting industry. Maura began their career as a Graduate Student and Adjunct Professor at the University of Southern California in 2001, and later worked as an Associate Lighting Designer at Applied Minds Inc. from 2003 to 2005. In 2006, they served as the Tour Lighting Director for The Actors' Gang. From 1998 to 2008, they worked as a Lighting Technician at Grand Performances and as an Assistant Lighting Designer at Opera Pacific. In 2008, they joined Horton Lees Brogden Lighting Design as a Lighting Designer, where they worked on numerous projects including new development in Salt Lake City. Maura also operated their own business, Maura McGuinness Lighting Design, from 1998 to 2013, specializing in freelance lighting design for various events and architectural projects. In 2013, they joined LIGHT as a Manufacturers' Sales Representative, and later worked as a Specification Sales Representative at Reflex Lighting from 2017 to 2019. Currently, they are the Regional Sales Manager - West Coast at Q-Tran, Inc since March 2019. Throughout their career, Maura has demonstrated their expertise in lighting design, sales, and management.
Maura McGuinness holds an MFA degree in Theatrical Design from the University of Southern California, which they completed between 2001 and 2003. Prior to that, they obtained a BS and BA degree in Communications and Theatre from Southern Connecticut State University, where they attended from 1990 to 1995. In January 2021, they also obtained a certification in LC from the National Council on Qualifications for the Lighting Professions Inc.
