John Monsees

Chief Technologist, Thermoplastics Laboratory at Qarbon Aerospace

John Monsees has a diverse work experience in the field of materials engineering and manufacturing. John started their career in 1988 as the Director of Advanced Manufacturing at Chem-Tronics, Inc. John then joined Hi-Tech Welding and Forming, Inc. in 1989, where they served as the COO Technology and Process Science until 2011. During their time at Hi-Tech, they also acquired a major stake in the company.

In 1991, John became the Executive Director of the International Titanium Association, where they managed the association's activities and business interests, including the development of new programs and organizing conferences and seminars.

John later worked as a Senior Engineer at JSL Technologies, Inc. from 2012 to 2013, providing engineering services to Department of Defense customers. In 2013, they served as the Sr. Manager of Welding at VACCO Industries for a brief period.

John then joined SpaceX as a Sr. Materials & Processes Engineer in 2013, where they provided expertise in welding technologies and other joining and fabrication processes. John left SpaceX in 2015.

From 2011 to 2013, John ran their consulting practice, Reactive Metals Group, LLC, which focused on titanium and reactive metals, computer programming, and providing manufacturing and marketing courses.

John later joined JC Monsees Assoc, llc as the Principal Materials Joining & Process Engineer from 2014 to 2019.

In 2019, John began working at Qarbon Aerospace as the Chief Technologist in the Thermoplastics Laboratory. John then moved to Triumph Aerostructures - Vought Aircraft Division in 2021, where they initially served as the Sr. Research and Development Engineer and later became the Chief Technologist in the Thermoplastics Laboratory.
