Amali Fernando is a research professional with extensive experience in academia and medical research. Currently serving as a Research Assistant at QIMR Berghofer Medical Research Institute, Amali has contributed to various groups focusing on cellular and molecular neurodegeneration, lung inflammation, and infection, as well as computational neurogenomics since November 2022. As a Doctoral Student at the University of Colombo since April 2017, Amali's research revolves around the genetic links between early human settlers and contemporary populations in Sri Lanka. Additionally, Amali has held multiple teaching roles, including Lecturer at Edith Cowan University and various positions across other institutions, covering subjects such as human evolution, microbiology, and biochemical metabolism.
