Rina Kumar

Rina Kumar is a seasoned research professional with extensive experience in medical microbiology and public health. Currently employed as a Research Officer at QIMR Berghofer Medical Research Institute since October 2020, Rina has previously held roles as a TB Technical Officer with the World Health Organization in Fiji, supporting community awareness and developing informational materials from September 2017 to June 2019. Rina's background includes work as a Medical Laboratory Technician at the Fiji Centre for Communicable Disease Control, where Rina tested for various communicable diseases, and participation in the Fiji Group A Streptococcal Project as a Research Assistant, focusing on DNA extraction from blood samples. Rina began a medical career as an intern at the Ministry of Health in Fiji after earning a Bachelor of Medical Laboratory Science, followed by a Master's degree in Molecular Biology. Rina is currently pursuing a Doctor of Philosophy in Medical Microbiology and Bacteriology at The University of Queensland.
