Santiago Diaz Torres

Santiago Diaz Torres is a current Research Assistant in Statistical Genetics at QIMR Berghofer Medical Research Institute since March 2021. Previous experience includes positions at Queensland University of Technology (QUT) where Santiago served as a SERF Research Assistant, conducting ecological research under Dr. Bek Christensen, and assisted various projects involving grant applications, laboratory data processing, and elemental analysis under Professor Jennifer Firn. Additional roles at QUT included Field Research Assistant for a vegetation monitoring study on myrtle rust, as well as Research Assistant for pest control data analysis under Associate Professor Grant Hamilton. Santiago's academic background encompasses a Doctor of Philosophy in Biomathematics, Bioinformatics, and Computational Biology from The University of Queensland, and both a Master of Philosophy in Biosecurity and Epidemiology and a Bachelor of Science in Biology from QUT.
